Oxidised Zone & Gossan

Minerals formed where groundwater and oxygen attacked a sulphide orebody from above, dissolving primary metals and re-precipitating them as carbonates, sulphates, phosphates and chromates. Almost every famous Australian secondary mineral came from a zone like this.
