Description
Mookaite from Mooka Creek on the western side of the Kennedy Range, about 180 km east of Carnarvon in Western Australia
Mookaite isn't a mineral species but a silicified radiolarite: rock built from the microscopic silica skeletons of radiolarians, from the Early Cretaceous Windalia Radiolarite. Iron oxides give it its mix of reds, yellows, purples and creams.
