Description
Dendritic opal from near Grant's Patch in the Eastern Goldfields of Western Australia. Common opal, a non-precious form of hydrated silica, and the fern-like dendrites are manganese oxides that crystallised along fine cracks in the stone. They look like fossil plants but are entirely mineral.
