Malachite in its classic forms: botryoidal, banded, fibrous and pseudomorphic after azurite. It forms in the oxidised zones of copper deposits. Notable Australian localities include Burra and Moonta in South Australia, Mount Isa in Queensland and Rum Jungle in the Northern Territory, with the Central African Copperbelt the benchmark overseas.
