Australian Opal
0 specimens
Australian opal, the national gemstone. Each field has its signature: black opal at Lightning Ridge, white and crystal opal at Coober Pedy and Andamooka, and boulder opal across western Queensland. All of it formed in Cretaceous sediments of the Great Artesian Basin, as silica-rich water filled voids left by weathering.
